NZI Fire protection promotion: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026

Terms and conditions

  1. The NZI Fire protection promotion (“Promotion”) is conducted by NZI, a business division of IAG New Zealand Limited (NZI), NZI Centre, 1 Fanshawe Street, Auckland 1010.  The following terms and conditions apply to the Promotion.
  2. By participating in the Promotion, participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  3. The Promotion commences on Friday, 1 August 2025 and ends on Friday 31 July 2026 (“Promotion Period”).

Eligibility

  1. The Promotion is open to new and existing NZI customers who hold Material Damage cover with NZI (“Eligible Participant”).
  2. To be eligible for the Discount, Eligible Participants must:

a)      Hold current Material Damage cover with NZI (a Qualifying Policy);

b)      have paid, and NZI has received, the first payment of the premium for the Qualifying Policy by the date the discount code is issued; and

c)      have the Qualifying Policy current at the time the Discount is made available to the Eligible Participant. Policies will not be current where they: (a) have been cancelled; (b) become void; or (c) where NZI has received notice to cancel the relevant policy. 

Discount

  1. Subject to clauses 7 to 13, each Eligible Customer will be entitled to receive a one-time discount of up to 50% off the RRP of firefighting and protection equipment purchased from and installed by Firewatch NZ Limited or its franchisees (Firewatch) up to a maximum value of $1,000 (incl. GST) (the Discount).
  2. To request participation in the promotion, Eligible Participants (or their broker) must email riskconsulting@nzi.co.nz. Eligible Participants (or their brokers) will be presented with a discount code by an NZI Risk Consultant or NZI Business Development Manager once eligibility criteria are confirmed.  Discount Codes must be used within 90 days of receipt from NZI.
  3. Eligible Customers must purchase firefighting and protection equipment and have it installed directly from Firewatch and must advise Firewatch at the time of purchase of the Discount Code. A Discount Code cannot be applied retrospectively.  Firewatch will invoice each Eligible Customer for the firefighting and protection equipment purchased by them, which will show the Discount applied.  Eligible Customers are responsible for paying Firewatch’s invoice (less any Discount applied) on Firewatch’s standard terms of payment.
  4. The contract for the purchase and installation of firefighting and protection equipment from Firewatch is between the Eligible Customer and Firewatch, and NZI is not responsible for performance of the contract between the Eligible Customer and Firewatch.
  5. Firewatch will install firefighting equipment in accordance with NZS4503 Hand Operated Fire Fighting Equipment.  The objective of the standard is to provide a mechanism to ensure that hand operated fire-fighting equipment is suitably selected, installed (placed), inspected and reliably maintained to an adequate level. 
  6. The cost of ongoing maintenance and servicing of equipment installed under this promotion is the Eligible Participant’s sole responsibility.  NZI has no obligation to pay for on-going servicing of equipment installed under this promotion.   This promotion does not cover the cost to recharge an extinguisher after discharge.
  7. Firewatch will provide Eligible Customers with 30 minutes free basic training on the firefighting and protection equipment (purchased using a Discount Code) at the time and place of installation.
  8. NZI will not be required to provide any person or entity with a Discount where, in NZI ’s sole discretion:

a) that customer is not (or is no longer) eligible; or

b) more than 90 days has elapsed since NZI has sent the Eligible Customer the discount code.

  1. The Discount and Discount Code is not transferable, not refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. The Discount and Discount Code must be taken as stated in these terms and conditions and no compensation will be payable if the customer is unable to use the Discount.
  2. NZI will not be required to provide any person with a Discount where, in NZI’s sole discretion, that person is not (or is no longer) eligible and / or the conditions set out in these terms and conditions have not been met.

General

  1. NZI, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to discontinue, extend or amend the Promotion at any time without notice to any person for any reason. The Promoter will only do this where it considers it is reasonable to do so.
  2. NZI’s decision on any matter regarding the Promotion will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. NZI’s underwriting criteria, policy terms and conditions apply. Participation in this promotion and installation of firefighting equipment does not imply the existence of any cover under any insurance policy. Eligible Customer’s duty of on-going disclosure is unaffected.
  4. Subject to any obligations under law, such as under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, NZI and its related bodies corporate will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered or sustained (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss or loss arising from negligence) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with the Promotion, the purchase of firefighting and protection equipment from Firewatch, or any Discount.
  5. NZI takes no responsibility for any misdirected, lost, incomplete, damaged, corrupted, incorrectly submitted, or late entries, or any human error, technical malfunctions, lost or delayed data transmission, computer or network failure, or any other interruption that may affect the conduct of the Promotion.

Privacy

  1. Information collected will be securely held by NZI, 1 Fanshawe Street, Auckland 1010. Each participant accepts and agrees that NZI may use and disclose the participant’s personal information to NZI ’s agents or contractors for the purposes of conducting the Promotion and for marketing and promotional purposes. Participants have the right to access and correct their personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 by contacting NZI in writing at 1 Fanshawe Street, Auckland or by calling 0800 80 24 24.
