The new and improved Cordell Sum Sure Calculator
To help our customers avoid home underinsurance, we've got a new and improved Cordell Sum Sure calculator, plus discounted deals on two professional home rebuild evaluators.
It’s well known that many New Zealanders are underinsured when it comes to rebuilding their homes. Helping our customers with their Sum Insured is the right thing to do and it aligns with IAG’s purpose of making the world a safer place.
Last month we introduced the new and improved Cordell Sum Sure calculator which will make it easier for customers to estimate rebuild costs. The Sum Sure calculator provides an estimate for the home rebuild cost (but the final decision still sits with the customer). If they think the amount is set too low (or high), they can increase (or decrease) their Sum Insured.
Customers and brokers can find the new Sum Sure calculator here - along with information on Sum Insured here. We’ll be decommissioning the Need2Know website later in the year.
We’ve also got a new supplier (with discounted rates for NZI customers) for home rebuild valuations – Construction Cost Consultants (CCC).

If a customer wants further confidence in the rebuild estimate, a professional can be used to help them determine the rebuild cost of their home at their own cost. We have favourable pricing arrangements with CCC.
