NZI wins Intermediated Insurance Company and Innovation of the Year awards

The annual ANZIIF Insurance Industry Awards, held on 16 November 2017, was the scene of two triumphant wins for NZI.

NZI took out the Intermediated Insurance Company and Innovation of the Year awards, held at the SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland. In awarding the Intermediated Insurance Company award, judges applauded NZI's forward-thinking, relationship-first approach and impressive disaster response process.

IAG NZ CEO Craig Olsen said, “It’s a fantastic effort for NZI to win in the Intermediated Insurance Company of the Year award, as well as the Innovation of the Year category for the Seeing Machines Guardian System. The system, part of the NZI Fleet Fit programme, detects driver fatigue and distraction in real time to help drivers prevent accidents, save lives and get home safely.

“It was also a very special moment to see IAG’s Karl Armstrong win the ANZIIF Lifetime Achievement Award for his 46 years of service. Karl began his career with NZI in 1971 and has held a variety of senior roles during his time with IAG companies. For many years he’s been a respected, trusted leader and advisor at IAG and across the wider insurance industry.”

Says Travis Atkinson, Executive General Manager for NZI, “We’re thrilled to have received this award after the challenging year we had with both the Kaikoura earthquake and Edgecumbe floods.”

“It’s great recognition for our NZI team, who are dedicated to working in partnership with brokers to support New Zealand businesses through good times and bad.

“Over the past year we have ensured a dedicated focus on being sustainable for the long term, and we believe our commitment to insuring all of New Zealand is something that stands us apart from many of our competitors.”
