NZI Professional Indemnity insurance

NZI’s Professional Indemnity policy insures professionals for liability and defence costs arising in respect of allegations of breach of professional duty while carrying out their professional services. 

The policy includes:

• civil liability
• damages that a court orders you to pay, or negotiated settlements, for mistakes that you (or your staff) make
• legal costs and expenses of defending claims (these are additional to the amount of damages you’re insured for)
• continuous cover
• defamation (libel and slander)
• disciplinary proceedings and enquiries
• dishonesty of employees
• extended reporting period
• loss of documents
• estate and legal representatives
• incoming principals for previous business mistakes
• infringements of patents, copyrights, designs or trademarks
• Fair Trading Act 1986
• acts, errors or omissions made anywhere in the world

Optional cover is also available for:

• employment practices liability for claims your staff could take (e.g. discrimination, unfair dismissal or workplace harassment)
• joint ventures
• prior corporate entities
